Emmanuel Banda and Zelda Humphreys won their first SDV Malawi Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday.

This was the last annual golf tournament under the name SDV Malawi as from later this year the company will rebrand to Bollore Africa Logistics Malawi.

Banda completed his strut on the Nchalo greens with 44 stableford points to win his maiden trophy in his five years of playing golf. He beat 68 other golfers.

The handicap 21 golfer never felt out of place even as some of the country’s biggest stars lined up behind him on the leader-board. All he did was to finish eight points ahead of his runner-up Dan Phiri. He was 10 points ahead of third-placed Kelvin Windell.

For Humphreys, it was her first major title this year. She beat eight other ladies.

With 26 points, the handicap 12 golfer was ahead of her runner-up Doreen Mwenitete by two points.

SDV Malawi commercial manager Khumbo Sambo presented K150 000 (about $375) to Nchalo Golf Club captain John Mphande for the maintenance of the greens.

SDV has rebranded accordingly in 55 countries it operates in worldwide.
